The next 2 years will see a vast number of updates to HR and employment law – are you prepared for these?

The Employment Rights Bill will see many changes to employment legislation over the coming years. One of the most significant changes will be changes to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), which will see the removal of the current 3 days unpaid waiting days, as well as increased eligibility for staff who do not currently qualify for pay (who will receive 80% of their wages). This is scheduled to come into effect in April 2026.

Other significant changes over the next 2 years include - 

• Day 1 unfair dismissal rights
• Changes to family leave
• Bereavement leave changes
• Enhanced trade union relationships
• Enhanced sexual harassment procedures
• Ending fire and rehire practices
• Ending exploitative zero hours contracts
• Improved flexible working practices
